Climax Shifts Focus to Next-Gen
Three UK studios merge for PS3, Xenon.
At the same time as console manufacturers are preparing to release the successors to their current hardware, developers are making sure that they are ready to face the enormous technical challenges posed by the new consoles.
One of these developers is Climax, the creator of Sudeki, and the MotoGP and ATV: Offroad Fury franchises.
The company announced on Monday that it is merging its three UK-based development arms into a single new studio, Climax Action, which will be focused on making games for next-generation hardware.
"By bringing together the vast experience, expertise and technology from each division, we've created a mega studio that is better equipped to develop multi-genre-action games than any other in the country," said Simon Gardner, the new company's president.
One of the games Climax is developing for next-generation consoles is Avalon, which the company calls a "multi-vehicle shooter with a twist."
Avalon is already being shown off to prospective publishers for release on one or more of Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft's new consoles.
