Need For Speed Takes the Lead
Knocking Rockstar down into second.
Last year, Need For Speed Underground came out of virtually nowhere to become the best selling game in the UK for 2003. The sequel, Need For Speed Underground 2, got off to a good start last weekend, taking the top spot in the UK.
The excellent performance of Need For Speed Underground 2 meant that CJ and the rest of the gang from Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas could manage no better than the No. 2 spot.
The game is still doing brisk business and remains a firm favourite to top the sales rankings this Christmas.
Elsewhere on the chart it was footie, footie, and more footie. FIFA 2005 jumped back up to No. 3, while the recent Xbox release of Pro Evolution Soccer 4 helped push that title back up the chart to No. 4.
While there were a handful of new releases last week, none of them managed to wow audiences. Killzone debuted in 12th place, one spot behind another PlayStation 2 first-person shooter hopeful, GoldenEye: Rogue Agent (which has been getting frightfully low review scores).
But the biggest loser of the week was Metroid Prime 2: Echoes. Despite good reviews from print and online publications, the game floundered. Whether Nintendo's decision to not include support for older televisions had any effect is unknown.
The top ten games in the UK for the week ending 27 November are listed below.
