Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath: Latest
This huge sequel looks better than ever. We take an updated look with a new video.
Ever since EA started bringing Oddworld Inhabitants and the gaming media back together for demonstrations of Stranger back in September, we've been convinced that this is going to be something pretty special. But every time the game catches our eye again, it seems more and more like a certainty.
This time, it's a new video of the game in action. Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath, as it was recently renamed, looks more than slightly impressive in this footage, which again raises the question of why on earth Microsoft would ever have dumped its developer (and yet still enthusiastically go about publishing a handful of comparatively pretty poor titles).
The first Xbox outing of the series didn't quite live up to expectations - technically or in terms of gameplay - but media like this shows just how far talented developers have come with the hardware since then.
We'll soon be stepping into the role of lead character, the Stranger, a western-style bounty hunter, who chases outlaws throughout a brand new rendition of the Oddworld universe.
Much like recent successes such as Ratchet and Clank, the makers at Oddworld have taken a combination of traditional genres, such as action/adventure and FPS, and added new twists to deliver a refreshing gaming experience.
It looks like EA has a great thing on its hands here - anyone for an acquisition?
Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath is actually approaching rapidly now, with a US release scheduled for January 25. Stay tuned for lots more.
