Feel the Magic: DS Sega Media Update
We take a final look at Sega's Feel the Magic in screens and extensive direct feed gameplay.
One of the most talked about launch titles that accompanied the popular Nintendo DS in America was Sega's Feel the Magic XY/XX, a quirky little game from the Sonic Team studio.
The game, which was directed by Yuji Naka, is a girlfriend sim with a difference: you have to earn the affection of your dream girl, who you fall in love with at the start of the game, by completing loads of bizarre obstacles that stand in your way.
But we're not just talking about jumping through the odd hoop or two. Much like in real life, this take on winning a girl's heart has you near-missing death with stuff like lifeboating, bullfighting, candleblowing and vomiting.
And it's all the more pleasureble an experience with the DS's touch screen function, which has you frantically stabbing the screen to get the desired result, a la Wario Ware Inc DS (which debuted at the machine's Japanese launch).
Perhaps our favourite thing about Feel the Magic is Sega's own touch of sweetness that flavours up the experience using colorful, stylish visuals and excellent sound.
You can check out an extensive direct feed video of loads of Feel the Magic gameplay below.
Feel the Magic: XY/XX (previously known as I Would Die for You and Project Rub) is out now in the US and should hit Europe in March 2005.
