Need For Speed Holds Off the Pack
EA smash hit stays on top in the UK.
As the year winds down and new releases thin to next to nothing, sales charts in the UK have started to take on a familiar look.
Need For Speed Underground 2 has stretched its chart dominance to another week, edging out Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas again in a week that saw only a handful of releases and just one move in the top five.
What's more difficult to see on the chart is the influence of the current hardware shortage that's plaguing the UK. Both Xbox and PlayStation stock have been whittled away to the point where the only home console still widely available in the country is the GameCube.
This lucky turn of events hasn't seen Nintendo capitalize on its competitors' shortfalls, though, as only one Nintendo-exclusive game, Pokémon Fire Red, made it into the top 40.
Here are the top 10 games in the UK for the week ending 11 December.
- Need For Speed: Underground 2 (EA)
- Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (Rockstar)
- Call Of Duty: Finest Hour (Activision)
- The Incredibles (THQ)
- FIFA 2005 (EA)
- Prince Of Persia: Warrior Within (Ubisoft)
- GoldenEye: Rogue Agent (EA)
- The Getaway: Black Monday (SCEE)
- Pro Evolution Soccer 4 (Konami)
- Halo 2 (Microsoft)
