Ridge Racers as Cool as Ever
Namco's drift-obsessed Ridge Racer games have become a staple at the launch of Sony consoles, including PSP.
Both PlayStation and PlayStation hit stores accompanied by Ridge Racer games, and with Ridge Racer for PSP Sony is hoping for a repeat of the success that came with its previous launch titles.
The game is already a hit in Japan, where it has been the best selling PSP game at the launch of the PSP, and now Namco is preparing the game for release in Europe.
Ridge Racer for PSP is a love-letter to series fans, with 24 tracks borrowed from Rave Racer for arcade and the series' console instalments to date.
Gameplay too is a mix of old and new - drifts are back, and they're now more integral to the driving experience. A Nitrous meter fills as you drift successfully around corners and can then be used at strategic points during races.
As with the other driving games set for release during the PSP's European launch window, Ridge Racer will use the PSP's WiFi connection for multiplayer, though no downloadable content is planned.
Ridge Racer for PSP will likely launch alongside the PSP when the handheld hits this coming spring.
