Capcom Readies Darkstalkers Chronicle
Another look at this stylised 2D fighting game set for release on the PSP later this year.
Fighting fans unhappy with the current portable servings of fisticuffs can take solace in Capcom's announcement that it is working on a new instalment in the arcade series Darkstalkers for the PSP.
Already released in Japan, Darkstalkers Chronicle: The Chaos Tower is a stylised 2D fighting game set for release on the PSP later this year.
The titular tower refers to one of the game's new modes in which you choose three characters and ascend a mysterious tower while baddies try to knock you into submission. Another mode allows you to unlock character art and other bonus features.
The three remaining game modes cover the usual one- and two-player fighting game types, with the latter available via the PSP's wireless connection.
To give the game an authentic feeling, Capcom has kept the screen dimensions of the game's arcade counterpart, relying on either borders or a zoom feature to fill the widescreen PSP display.
Darkstalkers Chronicle: The Chaos Tower will be released alongside the PSP in North America in March, with a similar release schedule likely for Europe.
