Majesco Wants to Infect Your PSP
And you can do the same in turn to all your friends.
Computer viruses are generally a bad thing - one that console owners have been spared till now. But publisher Majesco is hoping that you won't mind a little unauthorised intrusion of a less damaging nature in its new PSP title, Infected.
Infected is a third-person shooting game starring a policeman named Stevens who has immunity to a virus that is crippling New York. Armed with a weapon that uses his own impervious blood, you play as Stevens in the singleplayer campaign to thwart the Infected.
But despite the exploding Infected that litter the singleplayer game, it's in the wireless multiplayer modes that the game gets wacky. To start, you create your own character and, should you emerge victorious from battles, your character infects your opponent's PSP.
Win enough and your character can spread even further. Online ranking systems will be available for you to check both your progress up the charts and also to see how far your own unique virus has spread.
Infected will be released only on PSP some time in 2005.
