Alien Hominid Jumps From Net to Consoles
2D Web game makes unlikely transition to Xbox, GC.
Consoles have steadily become more powerful over the years, which has forced some types of games to find new media to inhabit. Alien Hominid is such a game.
As a traditional, hand-drawn and hand-animated 2D side-scrolling game from a small group of developers, getting the game onto a modern console would have been a daunting task.
Instead, Alien Hominid was made available as a Flash-based Web game, which has since been downloaded more than 9 million times. And that has inspired enough confidence in publisher Zoo Digital to bring the game to home consoles.
The console version of Alien Hominid will have 16 levels, complete with mini-bosses and bosses. Levels also feature a variety of vehicles, to accompany the running-and-gunning main gameplay.
Alien Hominid will be released for Xbox and PlayStation 2 in May.
