More Arcade Classics Remade for GBA
Although these are only "inspired" by the originals.
From all-in-one systems that plug straight into TVs to re-releases on current and future consoles, retro gaming is one of the major trends so far in 2005. The latest company to join the fray is developer Nocturnal Entertainment Australia (NEA), which is putting together a homage to arcade games of yore.
But these are not simply the same games all over again. Instead, Pocket Arcade Classics contains 10 games "inspired" by '80s arcade classics. According to NEA's Michael Shamgar, the team chose to recreate these classic games as their first Game Boy Advance title in order to "to stand out from the crowd".
Some of the games in the collection include Galhero (inspired by shooter Galaga); Scavenger Advance (based on Boulder Dash); Copter (a reimagining of Scrambler); ChipBot (a combination of elements from Pac Man and Bomberman) and CowJump Adventure (a parody of the Super Mario series).
There's no release date yet for Pocket Arcade Classics as NEA is still looking for a publisher.
