UK Retailer Unveils Silver Slim PS2
Who needs official announcements anymore?
Sony's slender, redesigned PlayStation 2 has been on sale for just under three months now, but the company is already preparing to unveil a new colour scheme for the in-demand console.
UK retailer Argos upset Sony's PR staff by placing the silver-coloured PlayStation on its Web site on Monday. Sony has yet to make an official statement regarding the new hardware colour and the company declined to comment on the leakage.
Nintendo is planning to unveil the release details for the Nintendo DS at a press event in Paris on Thursday. This new version of the PlayStation 2 could be seen as a stopgap to steal some thunder away from Nintendo's announcement.
Sony also its own portable machine - that would be the PSP, natch - coming out soon, but no one knows when full launch information will be announced. The silver PlayStation 2, however, will retail for the same price as its black counterpart when it's released.
