Koei Preps Phantom Brave for EU Launch
Tactical RPG coming next month to PlayStation 2.
Nobody believed Cole Sear when he told them he saw dead people. The Sixth Sense character's preternatural gift spooked people, who, true to human form, in turn ostracised him.
It's an all-too-familiar story to Marona, a 13-year-old girl who can speak to spirits and get them to do her bidding. In Phantom Brave, a new tactical RPG created by Disgaea design studio Nippon Ichi, you play as Marona, who, together with her spectral companion Ash, investigates cases for clients in the world of Ivoire.
The game swaps the grid-based maps that characterise the genre for a more freeform approach. What hasn't changed, though, is the emphasis on character building, and with over 100 hours of gameplay and 400 spells to learn, there's more than enough of that to go around.
In anticipation of the impending UK release of Phantom Brave, Koei has launched TacticalRPG.com, a site dedicated to Nippon Ichi's games. Phantom Brave will be released in the UK on 4 February.
