Need For Speed Series Hits Another High
Can anything stop EA's juggernaut?
It shouldn't come as a surprise if you've been following the UK sales figures for the past couple months, but Need For Speed Underground 2 is doing extremely well at the tills. And it's not isolated to the UK.
EA announced its quarterly financial details on Tuesday and hidden in the money talk was the revelation that the game has now sold 8.4 million copies worldwide since its release in November. This latest spurt helped the decade-old series push past the $1 billion revenue mark.
In the UK, the Need For Speed Underground games have been nigh on unstoppable. The original Need For Speed Underground was one of the best-selling games in 2003 and the sequel has been the top-selling game since its release nine weeks ago.
Series fans can look forward to at least two new iterations in the near future. Need For Speed will come out on both Nintendo DS and PSP later this year.
