Ubisoft Lavishes DS with Attention
Splinter Cell, Star Wars & King Kong confirmed.
With the Nintendo DS and Sony's PSP about to do battle for the pockets of gamers throughout the world, Nintendo is mustering all the support it can to ensure it holds on to the dominant position in the handheld industry it has enjoyed for so long.
Ubisoft has thrown its full weight behind Nintendo's new portable wonder, and in the first year of release we should see most of the company's biggest franchises land on the Nintendo DS.
"Our full support of the Nintendo DS is clearly visible by the number of titles coming out with the launch," said Yves Guillemot, chairman and CEO of Ubisoft. "We are proud to offer one of the most diverse line-ups of any major editor. Racing, platform, stealth or action - there is truly something for all tastes."
In addition to Sprung: The Dating Game, Asphalt: Urban GT and Rayman DS, all of which have been confirmed to launch alongside the Nintendo DS, Ubisoft has revealed that it's working on a portable instalment of one of its biggest franchises - Splinter Cell.
Also in the offing are tie-ins to two of the biggest films of 2005, namely Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith and Lord Of The Rings director Peter Jackson's remake of that most classic simian flick, King Kong. Both games will hit stores at the same time as their movie counterparts are released in cinemas in Europe.
