Microsoft to Replace Xbox Power Cords
Very unlikely fire hazard posed by current cables.
Microsoft has announced that it is offering replacement power cords to Xbox owners as a "preventative measure" against the possibility of electrical fires in the console.
In 30 cases worldwide, Xbox owners have reported either minor injury or property damage as a result of the flaw, which can lead to fires within the console. Fewer than one in 10,000 consoles are thought to be susceptible, but Microsoft has said that the replacement plan is "the responsible thing to do".
This issue only affects Xboxes sold before 13 January 2004 (Continental Europe) or 23 October 2003 (rest of world).
Replacement power cords can be requested through Microsoft's site or by calling 0800 028 9276 in the UK.
