Resident Evil Evolves Across the UK
Massive promotional campaign ahead of release.
With just a month to go now until the European launch of Resident Evil 4 for GameCube, Nintendo is knocking its promotional campaign for the game up a notch - starting with the Evil Evolves UK movie tour during March.
Capcom's Resident Evil series has come to represent the survival horror genre in videogames and this new tour will tap into the rich history of horror in cinema.
Films such as 28 Days Later, The Exorcist and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre are just part of the line-up that will be shown in London (at the Everyman Theatre, 9-12 March), Leeds (The Cottage, 17-19 March) and Leicester (Phoenix, 25-26 March) as part of the tour.
And in addition to the filmic thrills, attendees will also be able to try out Resident Evil 4 for themselves before the game's official release on 18 March.
Resident Evil 4 has been well received in the US, where it sold nearly 350,000 copies during its opening fortnight in January.
The game is important for Nintendo and the GameCube, which has suffered from a declining share of the video game market and developer abandonment over the past few years.
Nintendo has received a lot of flack from older fans dismayed by the company's reluctance to embrace the more violent, mature games that have dominated at the tills of late, but Resident Evil 4 should go a long way to satisfying this demand.
More details about the Evil Evolves film tour can be found at TV channel Sci Fi's website.
