SOCOM 3 Headed to PlayStation 2
First screens for Sony's online war shooter.
Things started off slowly for Sony in the online arena, but one game helped change that - SOCOM: US Navy SEALs. Now, Sony is back with SOCOM 3: US Navy SEALs, which promises to beef up the singleplayer component while still delivering the goods online.
The big changes this time around are the considerably larger levels - up to five times bigger than those in either of the previous games. This larger space also means more involved missions and longer mission playtimes, so mid-level checkpoints for saving your progress during a mission have been introduced as well.
There are some important changes at the character level, including the option of giving commands to your teammates via hot keys and your new ability to swim.
The weapons system has been overhauled too, allowing you to personalise your armoury more than before. There are over 30 weapons available in SOCOM 3: US Navy SEALs and 20 attachments that alter their capabilities.
SOCOM 3: US Navy SEALs is on track for release only on PlayStation 2 this autumn.
