Dirty Harry Coming to Next-Gen Consoles
Classic baddie-basher jumps into next generation.
Are adaptations of classic movies the new big thing in the videogame industry? It's starting to look that way. Just weeks after EA announced that it was adapting The Godfather, Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment has revealed that it is working on a videogame based on Clint Eastwood's classic Dirty Harry character.
Eastwood brought the iconic character to life in the original Dirty Harry in 1971 - and he subsequently parlayed the success of the decidedly non-politically correct cop into four sequels.
The lauded actor and director is taking a big part in the production of the game, which will feature Eastwood's likeness and trademark gravely voice.
"This will be an opportunity to satisfy the many requests over the years to continue the Dirty Harry legacy, only now in the videogame medium," said Eastwood.
"Creating Dirty Harry videogames will also introduce this memorable film character to new generations on a medium they appreciate."
And the game won't be just a cheap cash-in aimed at the tail end of the current generation of consoles either. Instead, the new Dirty Harry game is heading straight for the next generation of consoles.
As yet, there are no specific details as to which platform the game will end up on - or even which development team is behind the game, for that matter - but all should be revealed at E3 in May.
