Atari to Publish Fahrenheit in 2005
New screens and details for frosty, NYC-based thriller.
Imagine that it's 2009 and you're an IT professional working in New York City. You walk into the men's room of a restaurant when all of a sudden you lose control of your body. You awake to find yourself blood-drenched after having killed a man. And then the cops come for you while you try to find out what you've done, and why. This is the predicament Fahrenheit's Lucas Kane finds himself in.
Fahrenheit is an action adventure game from French developer Quantic Dream in which you unravel a murder mystery through the eyes of multiple characters, following clues to figure out what's happening as a paralyzing cold encroaches upon New York.
The game combines the main plot of uncovering the truth behind the murders with fully motion-captured visuals. You play the game through the eyes of multiple cast members and how you play affects how the game's story unfurls. Fahrenheit largely eschews traditional control methods and instead allows you to control characters during combat using Quick Time Event-like on-screen prompts.
Following being dropped by VU Games in November, Quantic Dream has now signed a publishing deal with Atari, who will release the game in September for PC and PlayStation 2.
