Mercenaries Stay on Top in UK
LucasArts' orgy of destructions wins out again.
Blowing stuff up is still a popular pastime in the UK if the latest sales charts are anything to go by. LucasArts' Mercenaries fended off Sonic Mega Collection Plus and all other comers to hold on to the No 1 sales position, with a healthy 33% increase in sales over last week.
Oddly enough, despite a wealth of new releases that included Konami's RPG Suikoden IV, Mario Power Tennis and EA's hip basketball title NBA Street V3, the rest of the Top 10 looks remarkably similar to last week's.
SpongeBob SquarePants seems to be making a run for the crown with his new movie tie-in game, which is no doubt being helped by the movie currently showing in the UK. Sony's dogfighting flyer Ace Combat: Squadron Leader sidled into the limelight too, breaking into the Top 10 for the first time since its release.
Here are the top 10 games in the UK for the week ending 26 February as determined by Chart Track:
- Mercenaries (LucasArts)
- Sonic Mega Collection Plus (Sega)
- The Spongebob Squarepants Movie (THQ)
- Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords (LucasArts)
- Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (Rockstar)
- Need for Speed: Underground 2 (EA)
- The Simpsons: Hit & Run (VU Games)
- Ace Combat: Squadron Leader (Sony)
- UEFA Champions League 2004-2005 (EA)
- World of Warcraft (VU Games)
