EA Assaults Europe in 2005
First screens and details for new Medal of Honor game.
In 1999, Medal of Honor ushered in the age of World War II-themed console shooters and nearly six years later developers' fixation on that tumultuous period shows little sign of abating. Now, EA is back for another tour later this year in Medal of Honor: European Assault.
The new game swaps D-Day and Pearl Harbor for the raging year of 1942. The war is at full pace and America is setting up the Office of Strategic Services (OSS) - precursor to the current CIA. As field officer Lieutenant William Holt, your task is to play an instrumental role in the liberation of besieged Europe.
As with the other games in this popular series, realism is key in Medal of Honor: European Assault. The developers at EA have worked closely with military advisers to ensure that the historical facts are accurate, while the gameplay makes use of real weapons and recreates regions scattered around Europe. You'll also be able to control a squad of troops using simple button-based commands.
It's still a game, though, not a history class and EA is planning to include several multiplayer modes as well, spread across several suitably battle-worn maps.
Medal Of Honor: European Assault is set for release on Xbox, PlayStation 2 and GameCube later this year.
