Lumines Confirmed for Euro PSP Launch
Mizuguchi's sound-tastic puzzler there on launch day.
Puzzle games and handhelds go together like pop star trials and excess media attention - as demonstrated most famously by the success of Tetris on the original Game Boy. And with the introduction of a new sphere of handheld gaming with the PSP comes a new take on block-based puzzling - Lumines.
Lumines was developed by ex-Sega designer Tetsuya Mizuguchi whose credits include such celebrated titles as Sega Rally, Space Channel 5 and Rez. The game combines an ostensibly simple puzzle system in which you match up similarly coloured blocks to form uniform squares with a dynamic soundtrack and dazzling colour schemes.
Already Lumines has proven to be one of the highlights of the PSP's launch games in Japan and it looks set to repeat the performance at the US release of the handheld at the end of March.
Lumines will launch alongside the PSP in Europe some time this spring.
