The Movies Brings the Cinema Home
Details and screens for Peter Molyneux's movie sim.
Games and film have crossed paths in many different ways over the years but never quite like in The Movies. In Peter Molyneux's new game, you take on a job in Hollywood that allows you to do as much or as little as you want to do in the magical world of motion pictures.
The game lets you take part at various levels. If you want, you can just dictate how your movie studio functions, making decisions such as when to start doing colour films or which actress to spend most of your time promoting - always making sure that your studio is making money.
Or you can jump behind the camera, where you can direct anything from a summer blockbuster to arty noir flicks that only those in the know care about. You can even hire and fire cast and crew members as you wish, letting them live out their dreams to the fullest or sending them crashing into drunken binges when you've had enough of them.
The Movies lets you handle things the way you want them to be handled. Film creators will also be able to post their unique movie creations on the Web for the world to see.
The Movies will be opening on PC at the end of this year, with Xbox, PlayStation 2 and GameCube to follow some time afterwards.
