Sega Planning More Sonic for '05
Shadow The Hedgehog to be joined by Sonic for a spintastic 2005.
Earlier this month, at GDC in San Francisco, Sega announced that it would be releasing a new Sonic-themed game titled Shadow The Hedgehog, but it seems that the Sonic love doesn't end there. "A number of Sonic titles" are in the works for this year, company representatives have revealed in an interview with 1Up.
Few details for the upcoming games are available right now, but it appears that Sega is aiming to satisfy a broad range of gamers familiar with its most popular creation.
Part of this strategy is the edgier tone of the Shadow The Hedgehog - which goes so far as to include a weapon for the main character. Sega assures gamers, though, that it's not out to simply cash in on the rise of guns 'n' guts gaming that litters the shelves at the moment.
"We're trying to capture a new type of audience, but we're not trying to throw away Sonic," said Takashi Iizuka of Sega Studios America. "We're trying to expand his world to a broader user audience."
Not much else was revealed as far as news games are concerned, but Iizuka confirmed that Sega will be showing off some its new Sonic wares at E3 in May.
