Halo 2 Expands in June
Bungie in internet-rumours-turn-out-to-be-true shocker. New maps coming later this year.
The bright and battered world of Halo 2 just got bigger, as Microsoft, confirming recent rumours, has announced that it will release the Halo 2 Multiplayer Map Pack. The expansion pack contains nine new maps, playable via the game's various multiplayer modes, and will be available through Xbox Live or in shops.
The retail version, which will sell for £14.99 in the UK and $19.99 in the US, contains two additional movies - one is an animated continuation of part of Halo 2's story, while the second is a behind-the-scenes look at the creation of the new levels, with hints from the developers of Bungie. The retail version will be available on June 28th.
If you don't want to wait that long, though, you can take advantage of the early map offerings that will be available on Xbox Live. Four of the new maps will be downloadable at the end of April - two of these will be free of charge, thanks to a Mountain Dew sponsorship, while the other two will set you back $4.99. The remaining five maps will be released on 28 June.
More information about the Halo 2 update can be found at Bungie's official page.
