SPOILER WARNING: There are two instances of extremely mild spolider on this page, to read them, please highlight the blank space. We have noticed that due to a special advert currently running on the site, just to the right, there may be an issue highlighting the text. However, as luck for our sponsor would have it, clicking the ad seems to fix the issue!
Although we were only able to check out the opening scene from the first level, in which [VERY MILD SPOILER:] Anakin and Obi-Wan set off to rescue Chancellor Palpatine from the clutches of Count Dooku,[MILD SPOILER ENDS] the scene came in at around one minute. In total the game contains over 12 minutes of footage, taken directly from the movie. Naturally, you can expect authentic sound effects from the Skywalker Sound studio, along with typically immersive Star Wars music.
The next scene goes straight into [VERY MILD SPOILER:] a showdown between Anakin and Dooku.[MILD SPOILER ENDS] The three-part duel is not so tough, but once completed, triggers a further cut-scene - although this time it's not from the film, but instead with presented with FMV game-style visuals. It all looks pretty sweet and connects together nicely.
Certain characters are fortunate enough to get a lot more attention in the game than they'll be getting in the film. Grievous' personal bodyguards are each built to the General's very strict specifications. The Bodyguards often work together by linking their attacks in pairs and breaking their enemies down piece-by-piece, dealing tremendous damage with their electrostaff weapons, which they can use to parry lightsaber attacks, enabling them to go head-to-head with Jedi.
Meanwhile, Battle Droids are the mechanized spine of the Separatist military. Though not as sturdy or fearsome as their superiorly modified droid counterparts, what the standard battle droid lacks in armament or weaponry it makes up for in tenacity and sheer force of numbers. Super Battle Droids, Destroyer Droids (also known as Droideka), Grapple Droids, Crab Droids and Buzz Droids also make up part of the considerable threat.
And back on the topic of unlockable multiplayer characters, it's worth mentioning that there were two unlockable characters we didn't get to see - but certainly hopes are high that Darth Vader could be one of them, since it's already confirmed that players can battle against him in the main single player story mode along with other characters like Mace Windu and Count Dooku.
Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith could be the finest action based Star Wars game the Jedi have ever seen. It promises Xbox and PS2 owners the opportunity to indulge in the universe in a way only the gaming medium can offer - and it's undoubtedly going to be essential material for any fan.
