Pac-Man Rolls on to Nintendo DS
The animate yellow ball is 25 years old this year, and to celebrate he's getting a new kind of game for Nintendo's new machine. First screens.
After the fastest UK launch yet of any hardware platform, the Nintendo DS has squandered most of its early momentum with little in the way of new releases but there are still many games in the offing, such as Namco's newly announced Pac 'n Roll.
Pac 'n Roll is the logical result of the combination of the Pac-Man idea and the unique features of the Nintendo DS and sees you control the ball-shaped hero using the stylus and touch-screen. There's a perfunctory story throw into the mix too, involving one of Pac-Man's enemies, who has turned the happy-go-lucky denizens of Pac-World into spheres.
During the course of this rolling adventure, Pac-Man will visit varied stages and collect equally diverse new powers, like the ability to fly. If this newfangled gameplay isn't up to your liking, though, perhaps the original Pac-Man, which Namco is throwing in as a freebie, will suit you better.
Pac 'n Roll is out for Nintendo DS later this year.
