Sims 2 Brings Life to Consoles
Can anything stop those gibberish-speaking virtual people? Not if EA has anything to do with it.
Given that living your own life is tough enough, the success of EA's life-simulating Sims franchise is baffling. The latest iteration, The Sims 2, is already a hit on PC, where it has sold more than 4.5 million copies since its release last year, and now it's coming to consoles and handhelds.
The Sims 2 on PC made it possible to customise your characters and live through their entire lives, including everything from raising children that have inherited traits to alien abduction. EA has been coy with details for the console versions but promises to keep the core experience and bolster it with new elements, including something the company calls aspiration gameplay and the ability to directly control your characters.
If this all sounds intriguing, you're in luck, as the game is coming for just about every platform out there at the moment (sorry, Gizmondo, you're out). The Sims 2 will be released on Xbox, PlayStation 2, GameCube, PSP, Nintendo DS, Game Boy Advance and mobile phones later this year.
