Playboy Brings Pulchritude to the PSP
Prominent purveyor of the feminine form trumpets innovation in the form of appropriately resized images of ladies with their bits out.
Even before the PSP was released, people were already calling it the PornStation Portable, thanks to the handheld's ability to show photos and videos. Playboy has been keeping an eye on the device too, and the company has announced a new feature called Playboy Station Portable, which allows users to download photo galleries and videos formatted to fit on the PSP's screen.
"We know that many Playboy fans are also gaming enthusiasts who are likely to buy this type of device so it was a natural progression for us to design this sexy, action-themed feature," said John D. Thomas, editor of Playboy.com.
"We always strive to stay ahead of the high-tech curve so as technology continues to change, we will continue to create features that will deliver Playboy content to customers on any media platform they wish to use."
Right now, there are nude and non-nude spreads available of Playboy.com's 2005 cyber girl of the year Amy Sue Cooper. The non-nude shots are available free of charge, while the adult content is available only to the site's premium content subscribers.
Playboy's move is hardly surprising. The average age of gamers has been creeping upwards for years, with some estimates putting the typical video game player in his - and despite companies' best efforts, it's still usually 'his' - late 20s. Sony has also made a conscious effort to target a more mature audience with the PSP than its main competitor, Nintendo, has with the DS.
This isn't the first time Playboy has put out such targeted material either. Last year, Playboy.com launched its iBod service, which brought specially formatted photo galleries to Apple's iPod Photo.
The Playboy Station Portable content can be found right here.
