Onimusha Returns to PlayStation 2
Samanosuke's arc may be done, but that doesn't mean Inafune it done with the samurai series.
You can't keep a good series down, which is why Capcom is going back to its sword-swinging Onimusha series for another go. The new episode will star a fresh cast of heroes and villains and is set nearly two decades after the events in Onimusha 3, GameSpot reports.
Keiji Inafune, the man behind all three previous Onimusha games, returns to his series with fresh ideas for both its story and gameplay. Shin Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams follows an unnamed hero who must vanquish the demons that arise after a portentous star appears in the skies.
Early information suggests a shift from the scripted gameplay of the series, giving players more freedom to experience the game how they want. And while there's still an emphasis on story, Inafune has admitted that action has been pushed to the fore.
There's a lot of time for things to change, though. Shin Onimusha: Dawn Of Dreams is in the early stages of development and has a targeted release window of spring 2006. The game is expected to show up in playable form at E3 next month.
