Return to the Star Wars Battlefront
More squad-tastic fun in the Battlefield 1942-inspired shooter series. First screens and details.
Star Wars Battlefront was a solid team-based shooter that gave players an action and vehicle-heavy experience rooted in all six of the Star Wars movies. For the sequel, Star Wars Battlefront 2, LucasArts and Pandemic have gone back to the familiar theme and added a host of extras focused on fixing the original's shortcomings.
The singleplayer campaign from the first game has been deepened, with a more open game design and mission-based objectives, and you'll be able to play as Jedi too. The story arcs through all six Star Wars movies, though there's considerably more attention given to Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith than was possible in the original game.
But it's the multiplayer that is the core experience in Star Wars Battlefront 2. Skirmishes are now much bigger, with new upper player limits for the console versions (24 on PlayStation 2; 32 on Xbox; 64 on PC). For the first time in the series, you'll be able to fight in space and even dock with and enter enemy ships to destroy them from inside.
Star Wars Battlefront 2 will be released for PC, Xbox and PlayStation 2 this autumn.
