Revolution to Begin in Mid-2006?
Tech company working on Nintendo's new console spills details during earnings conference call.
While details about Microsoft's new console, scheduled for official unveiling later this week, are leaking out at a frightening pace, Nintendo's camp has been far more tightlipped with details for Revolution, the successor to the GameCube. But recent comments from outside the company hint that the new console could launch in the middle of next year.
Speaking to analysts earlier this week, Mark Voll of memory provider MoSys said that it was working with technology company NEC (which is working on Revolution) to provide memory for Revolution. But during the conference call Voll let slip that Revolution would be shipping in "mid-2006".
Nintendo has refused to comment on Voll's remarks, but a mid-2006 launch does go along with current estimates. The company should clear the waters at its pre-E3 press conference on Tuesday.
