Jackson's King Kong to Demolish E3
Ubisoft seems confident that this is going to be the movie tie-in that shows up all the pretenders.
Movies and games are coming together as never before, and perhaps the best upcoming example is Peter Jackson's King Kong. The game, which is scheduled for release alongside the movie in December, is the result of intense collaboration between Jackson, the film's production team and Ubisoft, and it's also going to be the big game for Ubisoft at next week's E3.
While most game tie-ins are content to replicate scenes straight from the movies they're based on, King Kong will do that and more. Using content from the movie and some extra stuff made just for the game, courtesy of effects company Weta Digital, Ubisoft is promising King Kong will, "push the emotional tension of the film to even greater depths."
"The game exceeds any previous movie-based title in graphic quality and adaptation of a storyline while taking full advantage of the strengths of the interactive video game experience," said Ubisoft president Yves Guillemot. "Peter Jackson's King Kong will be Ubisoft's most impressive and successful game of 2005."
Look for King Kong to make a huge showing at next week's E3 show in Los Angeles. The game, which is headed to all current consoles and likely Xbox 360 too, is set to take up almost half of Ubisoft's massive booth on the show floor.
