Test Drive Motors on to Xbox 360
Age-old franchise gets in early on Microsoft's new machine. First screens - renders, actually - inside.
Launching a modern games console without a driving game is unheard of these days, and one of the first titles to pull up to the line for Xbox 360 will be Atari's Test Drive Unlimited.
The game bends the usual rules a bit though and includes both cars and bikes from renowned manufacturers such as Lamborghini, Ducati, Aston Martin, Mercedes, Saleen, Shelby, and Jaguar. It's also set in just one location - the pristine highways and byways of Hawaii.
In keeping Xbox 360's focus on online connectivity, Test Drive Unlimited will include various multiplayer modes and features downloadable content as a core feature. The game is built around a trading system of earning credits from wins to buy upgrades, clothes and other in-game items.
As one of the first Xbox 360 games, Test Drive Unlimited will also benefit from true next-generation processing power to take graphics to the next level. Atari hasn't confirmed whether the game will be on the E3 showfloor but we'll be keeping an eye out for it.
