E3: SCEE Outlines PSP Launch
Sony's new PSP handheld may still be months off in Europe, but the company is gathering an impressive collection of launch titles.
At Sony Computer Entertainment Europe's E3 press conference on Tuesday, the company revealed that there would be nearly 30 games available on the PSP's launch day in September.
Whether you're into driving, action, puzzle or sports games, the PSP launch line-up should have something for just about everyone. Of the 29 games confirmed for launch, a full nine are coming from Sony itself, including:
- Ape Academy: 2-players-on-1-PSP mini-game compilation
- Everybody's Golf: cartoon-styled golf game with plenty of depth
- Fired Up: single and multiplayer road rage
- F1 Grand Prix: officially licensed formula 1 racing
- MediEvil: Resurrection: action and laughs with the skeletal Sir Dan Fortesque
- Ridge Racer: drift-heavy racing in the fan-favourite driving series
- WipEout: Pure: high-speed anti-gravity racing with a thundering soundtrack
- World Tour Soccer: Challenge Edition: featuring over 200 national and domestic squads
- World Rally Championship: off-road racing with all the WRC rally drivers
And it's not just games that prospective PSP owners have to look forward to. Sony has been negotiating with movie studios to get movies on to PSP Universal Media Discs and there will be 19 available on day one, with about 45 in shops by the end of the year.
The PSP will be released in Europe on 1 September.
