E3: Sega's Next-Gen Surprise
Next-generation demonstrations for Virtua Fighter, Afterburner, House of the Dead and Sonic the Hedgehog looked fantastic as Sega readies its strongest IP.
Sega has been quick to jump into the next generation and already has several games being readied for Microsoft's new Xbox 360, but fans of the company might be wondering where the franchises they've come to love are.
Sega has given tacit confirmation that several of its most popular series are headed to next generation consoles in a technology demo showing at its booth on the show floor at this week's Electronic Entertainment Expo, taking place in Los Angeles.
The demo includes brief clips seemingly ripped from next generation instalments in the Sonic, After Burner, Virtua Fighter and House Of The Dead series. The four clips provide tantalising and gorgeous glimpses of what the next entries in the respective series might look like.
Sega has not confirmed that any of these games are actually in development and insists that these are simply demonstrations of what the company is able to do with the power provided by next generation consoles. And without official word, we'll have to wait to see if Sega does officially announce any of the games.
