E3: SOCOM Gets Big for PlayStation 2
Zipper returns with the third installment.
This year's E3 trade show gives ample proof that war games, the fodder of the action game genre for the last while, aren't going anywhere. One of the more anticipated games being shown on the floor is Sony's own SOCOM 3: US Navy Seals.
While the previous SOCOM: US Navy Seals games have been well received for their multiplayer modes, developer Zipper Interactive is eager to provide a more involving singleplayer campaign.
To this end, levels have been made up to six times bigger and the save system has been overhauled, so you won't have to trudge through the same parts over and over again. Vehicles also make their debut in the game, and you'll be able to control both land and water crafts.
The weapon system has received a major reworking - there are 31 realistic weapons in the game and they have attachment points for the more than 20 attachments, making for over a thousand possible combinations.
SOCOM 3: US Navy Seals is targeted for release on PlayStation 2 this autumn.
