Guilty Gear Slams Into DS and PSP
Sammy's 2D fighter jumps to not one but two handhelds. First details and screens for both versions.
The arrival of the next generation of hardware in the form of PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Revolution may well usher in the death of 2D gaming on home consoles, but thankfully we still have handhelds to provide a dose of dimensionally deprived gaming. Sammy's Guilty Gear fighting series has long been a favourite with 2D fans, thanks to its sumptuous character designs and bursting art direction, and now it's coming to both Nintendo DS and PSP.
The first game, Guilty Gear Dust Strikers, stars all 21 of the series' colourful pugilists and takes the action to both screens of Nintendo's handheld. Apart from the requisite super attacks, series fans can also look forward to four-player wireless play and a barrage of mini-games to keep you occupied once the main event starts to lose its lustre.
The PSP instalment, Guilty Gear Judgment, brings a few new modes - apart from the regular one-on-one fighting a la Guilty Gear Reload, you'll also be able to play in various multiplayer modes and another new gameplay type called Boost Mode in which you fight in a side-scrolling world Final Fight-style to bring baddies to justice. Boost Mode and Reload Mode are also playable via the PSP's wireless connection.
Both Guilty Gear Dust Strikers and Guilty Gear Judgment should be out sometime towards the end of the year. In the meantime, check them out in the brand new screenshots below.
