The Force Retains the UK Top Spot
The movie's out, so it shouldn't come as a surprise that the Star Wars Ep III game is on top again this week.
All eyes may have been on E3 last week, but gamers here were still enraptured by the Force, picking up Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith in droves and taking it to its third week at the top of the UK sales charts. However, despite the movie starting in theatres across the country on Friday, sales of the game have dropped by nearly 25 per cent.
Outside of Star Wars, the UK charts were seeing little action as publishers held back new releases and instead fixed their gaze on the bedlam of E3 in Los Angeles. Lego Star Wars continued to do well, riding George Lucas's wave of propaganda to a comfortable fourth place, just behind Microsoft's well-received racer Forza Motorsport.
The only new title that made it into the top 20 was Imperial Glory, a new game from Pyro Studios, the developers behind the tough-as-nails military strategy game Commandos.
Below are the top 10 games in the UK for the week ending 21 March, as determined by Chart Track:
- Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith (LucasArts)
- Championship Manager 5 (Eidos)
- Forza Motorsport (Microsoft)
- Lego Star Wars (Eidos)
- Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition (Rockstar)
- FIFA Street (EA)
- Singstar Popworld (Sony)
- Gran Turismo 4 (Sony)
- Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory (Ubisoft)
- Guild Wars (NCsoft)
