Fatal Frame Torments the PlayStation 2
Cute they may be, but these girls are on a mission to scare the bejeezus out of you. First screens.
Tecmo's previous Fatal Frame games have taught us that just because a game has innocent-looking young women, that doesn't mean that it can't scare the hell out of you. For the third instalment, Tecmo is throwing some of the series' conventions out the window to provide the spookiest adventure yet.
The primary new feature in Fatal Frame III: The Tormented is the expansion in the number of characters you can control. Central character Rei, Fatal Frame star Miku and Rei's friend Kei each have unique abilities, which can (and must) be used to unravel the mystery of the House Of Sleep.
The story follows Rei as she struggles to rid herself of a curse after her fianc‚ is killed in a car accident. Entering the House Of Sleep in her dreams, Rei must use the game's central weapon-slash-item, the ghost-capturing Camera Obscura, to solve the mystery before she too becomes consumed by the curse, all while avoiding the spirits that dwell in the haunted dream house.
Tecmo is promising that Fatal Frame III: The Tormented will be "the most terrifying Japanese Horror interactive experience to date". The game will be out for PlayStation 2 towards the end of the year.
