Jedi Hold Off Spandex Warriors on Charts
We'd say something about the Force helping Star Wars come out on top, but, frankly, we're tired of that hackneyed expression.
With Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith maintaining its stranglehold on the movie box office, it seems only fitting that the video game tie-in should prove equally as devastating to all comers in the UK game sales charts.
Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith has now been on top of the chart for four weeks in a row, and the spillover enthusiasm for the franchise resulted in a healthy bump for Lego Star Wars too, which leaped back up to the 2nd spot.
Wrestling fans also made their presence known at tills, helping WWE Wrestlemania 21 debut in the 3rd spot. The game would likely have fared even better had it been released around the same time as the actual event, back in early April. The only other new entry into the top 10 this week is Midway's alien-themed shooter, Area 51.
Despite the season coming to an end, footie games are still big in the UK. Apart from FIFA Street, which has been in the upper rankings since its debut in March, Pro Evolution Soccer 4 made a triumphant return to the charts, thanks to a new, low price.
Below are the top 10 games in the UK for the week ending 28 May, as determined by Chart Track:
- Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith (LucasArts)
- Lego Star Wars (Eidos)
- WWE Wrestlemania 21 (THQ)
- Championship Manager 5 (Eidos)
- Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition (Rockstar)
- FIFA Street (EA)
- Forza Motorsport (Microsoft)
- Area 51 (Midway)
- Pro Evolution Soccer 4 (Konami)
- Gran Turismo 4 (Sony)
