Let the Warcraft Battles Begin
Things are about to get messy in the popular MMORPG as Blizzard introduces the first PvP areas.
For many, one of the key features lacking from massively multiplayer online hit World of Warcraft is the ability to kill other players. Not any more. Starting this week you'll be able to access new battleground areas in the game world where you can join factions and wage war, Warcraft-style.
Two new areas have been added to the game: Alterac Valley, which has been designed for hardcore players, and the more newbie-friendly Warsong Gulch.
These battlegrounds provide vastly different experiences, allowing you to either wage hours-long wars in the snowy mountains of the Alterac Valley with up to 79 other players or simply while away 45 minutes in Warsong Gulch in smaller, 20-man conflicts.
Honor Points are earned for completing various objectives during battle, giving more bloodthirsty gamers an alternative means to build up their characters.
And it doesn't end there. Blizzard is currently working on other new battlegrounds, which will be folded into the world later in the year.
