Wanted: Dogfighting Pacific Heroes
Must be able to keep their cool during intense aerial combat and know how to make good coffee. New screens a plus.
While the European leg of World War II has received the bulk of attention from game developers, there are signs that those keeping the big war as their wellspring are shifting geographic location.
One such company is Codemasters, which for its new dogfighting game, Heroes of the Pacific, is taking the action to the Pacific theatre. Here you'll begin with the Japanese strike at Pearl Harbor before moving on to other pivotal battles at Guadalcanal, Iwo Jima, Midway and more.
Expect the skies to swell with up to 150 aircraft in the air at one time. You'll encounter more than 30 recreated Japanese and American fighters over the course of the 26-mission campaign.
The game also includes split-screen and online multiplayer with up to eight players.
Heroes of the Pacific is out for PlayStation 2, Xbox and PC this September. Check out the official site for more info.
