SOE, DC Comics Team Up for Online Game
EverQuest creator picks up DC Comics brand and takes over Matrix Online.
The battle over which of comics companies Marvel and DC has the better stable of characters will rage on forever, but it's DC that is taking its roster online first.
DC, home to Batman, Superman, Green Lantern and hundreds more, is teaming up with EverQuest developer Sony Online Entertainment to create a massively multiplayer online game based on the comics publisher's characters and universe.
It's still too early to tell exactly what the companies have planned for the game, which is in development for PC and unnamed next generation consoles, since it is only expected to be released at the end of 2007.
Also part of the new deal between SOE and Warner, DC's parent company, is the transfer of Matrix Online to SOE, which will run and expand the now-established game.
