Perfect Dark Zero - New Screens

Microsoft puts out more could-be-better screens for Rare's long-awaited shooter. There's also word of the official site.

Though not given any exposure on the E3 show floor (see our private viewing eyes-on report here), Rare's Perfect Dark Zero is one of Microsoft's big hopes for the launch of Xbox 360 at the end of the year. The game was the centre of controversy as rumours abounded that the game had been pulled from public demonstration at the show after a poor response to Microsoft's pre-E3 MTV Xbox 360 unveiling.

Perfect Dark Zero is set three years prior to the events in its Nintendo 64 predecessor, Perfect Dark and once again stars that sexy super bounty hunter Joanna Dark. Rare has been coy with details for the story mode, choosing instead to tout the impressive features to be found in multiplayer.

More than 50 players (the developers are working on getting as many as possible in) will take to the diverse scaling levels that house the online multiplayer hijinks. Armed with an array of standard and unique weapons (shown off in the accompanying screenshots), some taken directly from Perfect Dark, you'll be able to play in six different multiplayer modes.

Rare is currently working on the multiplayer maps that will make it into the final game but the developer is promising that there will be more for download once the game is in stores. There's even a chance that you'll be able to play on classic Perfect Dark maps, but the company is trying to wrangle the legal issues involved, as those levels are still owned by Nintendo.
