Far Cry Draws Out the Animal in You
PC hit gains new features en route to Xbox. New screens.
Jack Carver is going through changes. The star of Ubisoft's upcoming first-person shooter Far Cry: Instincts got himself jabbed with an experimental serum and his body is responding by tapping into its more primal reserves.
To differentiate the Xbox version of Far Cry from last year's award winning PC iteration, the developers have added several new elements, including a trap system for catching enemies unawares and Jack's physical transformation.
"Adapt or die" is the project's main theme, says scriptwriter Patrick Redding, and this is reflected in Jack's new feral metamorphosis. As you progress through the game, Jack will be able to use more of his animalistic skills, transforming the game experience so that even PC veterans will find new stuff to enjoy.
As Jack evolves, he'll develop three new main skill types. Feral Strength and Feral Speed do what you would imagine, allowing Jack to react better to his world. Feral Sense, on the other hand, gives Jack new ways of seeing, hearing and smelling his environments.
What's more, you'll be able to use the Feral abilities in both the standard multiplayer modes and also specifically designed modes centred on the super-human skills.
Far Cry: Instincts will be out for Xbox in September.
