Boost for PC Ghost Recon 3
Ubisoft's new shooter gets an official name too. More screens.
The battlefield is a grim place where every man is out for himself, forging headlong through a hurricane of shells that thwip by your ear - or so movies have told us. But in Ubisoft's vision of the future, soldiers will no longer be cut off from their colleagues and command.
Using the Integrated Warfighter System, currently being developed by the US Army, the special forces operatives in the newly renamed Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter are kept up to date by advanced communication systems that weave them into the information net that covers the battlefield.
But while the Xbox 360 version of the game has been receiving the lion's share of the pre-release hoopla, Ubisoft has been beavering away on the PC version, adapting the experience for the more mature platform.
Mathieu Girard, producer of the PC version, says that the game has been reworked to make better use of the improved handling offered by the mouse-and-keyboard combination over a standard controller.
And because players will have better controls, the PC version has upped the tactical possibilities as well. PC gamers will be able to strategize on the fly, altering the course of action as battles unfurl.
Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter will be out for current console and PC by the end of the year with the Xbox 360 version to launch alongside the hardware, likely in November. Below are the latest shots from the PC version of the game.
