Burnout Revenge - New Screens
EA's orgy of automotive destruction gets prepped for another go.
It speaks volumes that at May's E3 the latest Burnout game for Xbox was getting more attention than EA's other action-slash-driving game, Need for Speed: Most Wanted on Xbox 360.
Burnout Revenge is the culmination of EA's experimentation on the simple formula of seeing how fast cars can go and how violently they can thunder into one another.
Traffic is a more important factor for Burnout Revenge, as is the whole Takedown aspect of bringing down your fellow racers using whatever underhanded moves you have to use. Opponents are flagged so that you know who is gunning for you, perhaps after you pushed them into an oncoming big-rig truck.
The game has also been tweaked to emphasise the action bits over the actual A-to-B driving. Multiple routes give you more freedom, allowing you to make it to B via G and Z if you so choose. There's even a new mode that involves no real racing whatsoever but rather tasks you with causing as much carnage as possible.
Burnout Revenge will be out for Xbox and PlayStation 2 this September.
