PGR3 Targets Online Tournaments
Microsoft's racer will usher in new Xbox 360 features and get the competitive blood boiling.
At a recent conference in London, Microsoft said that it would do a better job of timing Xbox 360 game releases to take advantage of other new features. One of the first games expected to bring in unique content is the company's own Project Gotham Racing 3.
Developer Bizarre Creations has revealed that it plans to host monthly tournaments for the game on Xbox Live. Players from across the globe will sign up and quality during the opening weeks of each month, after which Bizarre will flag the best racers who will carry on in knockout rounds until an ultimate victor is crowned.
But just because you're out, doesn't mean you can't still take part. Project Gotham Racing 3 will introduce a new online feature called Gotham TV, which will let gamers from all over the world connect via Xbox Live to watch the remaining racers battle it out for the top spot.
The tournaments and spectator aspects form a core component of Microsoft's efforts to foster rich online communities, which the company hopes will give it an edge in battle for next-generation supremacy.
