Ghost Rider Burns PSP and Consoles
The new circle of life: Comic begets movie begets game.
The crossover between different entertainment media has never been more apparent than now, when comics seeding movies and games is almost commonplace. The latest comic to make the triple jump is Marvel's Ghost Rider, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
The Ghost Rider game, which is being written by comics legends Garth Ennis (creator of Preacher) and Jimmy Palmiotti, builds on the story of next summer's movie, picking up where the film ends.
Climax, the UK-based developers of the game, spent time with Nicolas Cage and the rest of the crew on the Ghost Rider set in Australia, gathering footage and soaking up atmosphere to bring the film to virtual life.
Don't expect to hear Cage's characteristic vocals though - none of the film's stars has signed on to reprise their role in the game.
Ghost Rider follows the tortured exploits of an Evel Knievel-like stuntman who sells his soul to save his father from damnation. As the soulless Ghost Rider, Johnny Blaze rides the night, righting wrongs on his flaming motorcycle.
Ghost Rider will be released for PlayStation 2, Xbox and PSP next summer, at the same time as the movie hits theatres.
